Overview

Discover the beautiful and scenic city of Seward! Surrounded by mountains and the Resurrection Bay, this picturesque location was once devastated by an earthquake, tidal waves and fire in 1964. Since then it has evolved into a thriving community. Seward provides visitors with beautiful wildlife, awe-inspiring scenery, and the quaint charm of a small town.

Perfectly suited for discovery on foot, our self-guided audio tour allows you to set your own pace and explore at your leisure as you uncover the stories of this lovely city.

Simply download our self-guided audio tour, plug in your headphones, open the map that comes with your download and head to the tour starting point. The tour will take approximately two hours, but you can pause the audio guide when needed. Grab a bite to eat or do some shopping along the way.

What To Expect

The tour will take approximately two hours depending on your pace. Just pause the audio guide whenever you fancy spending longer at a sight, grabbing a bite to eat or doing some shopping along the way. Make your way to the Alaska Life SeaCenter to begin your tour. There are many interesting sights to see. Here are some standouts.

Highlight One: The Alaska SeaLife Centre. The Sea Life Centre has some wonderful attributes such as the chance to touch the reef-life and get a better understanding of sea lions and harbour seals.

Highlight Two: The Seward Museum. The museum is a hidden treasure located inside the Seward Library and it has displays on the railroad system, sled dogs, early Seward, and so much more.

Highlight Three: The Coastal Classic. Considered by many to be the most scenic train ride in America, travels through spectacular scenery going from Seward at the Old Alaska Railroad Depot to Anchorage.

Highlight Four: The Founder's Monument: On the shore of Resurrection Bay, the monument commemorates the arrival of John Ballaine and his party.

Quaint, quirky and full of interesting tales and historical information, this tour takes you on a journey of years gone by.

Cool Alaska wants to make your searches as relevant as possible. That's why we offer many ways to help you find the right experiences for you.

On some pages, you can select how to sort the results we display and also use filter options to see only those search results that meet your chosen preferences. You'll see explanations of what those sort options mean when you select them.

If you see a Badge of Excellence label, the award is based on average review ratings, share of bookings with a review, and number of bookings through Cool Alaska over a 12-month period.

The importance of any one factor over any other in a sort order varies, and the balance is constantly being reviewed and adjusted. We're always updating our systems and testing new ways to refine and improve your results to make them as relevant as possible to meet your needs.
